Chipmaker Intel has confirmed that proprietary supply code associated to its Alder Lake CPUs has been leaked, following its launch by an unknown third-party on 4chan and GitHub final week.

The revealed content material comprises Unified Extensible Firmware Interface (UEFI) code for Alder Lake, the corporate’s twelfth era processors that was initially launched in November 2021.

In a press release shared with Tom’s {Hardware}, Intel said the leak does not expose “any new safety vulnerabilities as we don’t depend on obfuscation of knowledge as a safety measure.”

It is also encouraging the broader safety analysis group to report any potential points by its bug bounty program, including it is reaching out to clients to inform them of the matter.

Apart from the UEFI code, the leaked knowledge dump features a plethora of recordsdata and instruments, a few of which seem to return from firmware vendor Insyde Software program.

Actual particulars surrounding the character of the hack, together with its provenance, are unclear. The GitHub repository has since been taken down, though it stays accessible through different replicated variations.

That mentioned, indications are that the repository had been created by an worker of LC Future Center, a Chinese language producer of computer systems and laptops.

Earlier this February, the LAPSUS$ extortionist group breached NVIDIA, siphoning 1TB of delicate knowledge. The risk actor later claimed that the corporate had launched a retaliatory ransomware strike to forestall the discharge of the stolen knowledge.
